Salix triandra 'Black Maul'

Salix triandra 'Black Maul' is a very well known heritage basketry willow. It is grown in our willow beds predominantly for cuttings as Black Maul does not grow well in our bioregion for basketry (it tends to get very branchy).

It is a softer willow, with less tension than a typical purpurea. It has a rich chocolatey brown fresh colour.

Black Maul can grow well for basketry other regions- (on the west coast for example). It's recommended that you do your own research/exercise diligence before purchasing to make sure that this variety is a right fit for you. (Check out the "All Things Willow" group on Facebook).

This variety can be great for basketry and we recommend checking in with other growers in your bioregion to confirm if this is a right fit for you.

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM Johnny: I am not a horticulturist and the information provided for each willow variety is based on my observations growing and using the willows here at Lakeshore Willows.
